Hey Jenny,
Ran across your site looking for information on Chrisitian Yoga. I am very interested in what I found. My background is similar. I am the senior advisor at Good Shepherd's Institute for Healthy Living in Longview, Texas. I am over programs for about 5000 seniors. I am a CYT with a MA in religion and MS in sport psychology. I have run into conflicts in the guided imagery realm through the years and more recently my excursion into Yoga. At 56, I don't work much with athletes anymore but do use imagery with Yoga. I am looking forward to reading your book and seeing how you are incorporating imagery into your practice. Thanks for the site and outreach.

Hi Leigh, and thank you for your post on the website. It sounds to me like
dolphin has been with you all this time (you still remember). ...perhaps
just waiting for you to visit again? Find some quiet time and connect with
dolphin again. Use the formula of the recipe(available in the book and on
the web site). Ask dolphin the significance of being your grounding
animal.
Also, as we change the animals that come to us may change. I don't know
how long ago dolphin came to you. The animals themselves represent
energies in us. Dolphins are mammals like us and breathe air. Water is
their element but the sea is held in a bowl of earth. I'm guessing dolphin
wants to talk with you again. Blessings in all your journeys,
leigh

Can you say anything about dolphins as a "grounding animal"? Many years ago I had a single imagery session in which a dolphin appeared as my grounding animal. It confuses me now to think of a water animal as "grounding".
I think I may finally begin to move back towards imagery work.

I believe the ability to see with inner vision can heal through time. I have done healing and forgiveness with family members who have died. I have made connection with my with my ancestors, some from long ago. We are all called upon to heal now, as the earth herself asks to be healed.
As you say, just go there in imagery. Be there. begin the conversation.
Jenny Garrison, holiday message
December 16, 2008
Is said that St. Francis was the first to bring the manger scene of Christmas to new life, with the enactment of a crèche….the stable, the angels, the baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, all the animals, along with the visiting shepherds and wise men.
This scene or any from your Holy tradition can be entered through the gateway of imagery. Time ceases to be significant. The scene is entered by oneself as though it were the present moment.
Bring yourself this gift: Close your eyes and center and ground yourself. Say a prayer that you might be in accord with the spirit of truth, and invite the scene to come to you in your imagination, in your mind’s eye.
When you find yourself in the scene you have invited (be it the birth of Christ or another very special story), look around. Notice where you are, the sights, the smells, the way you feel, the scent of the air, the sounds that come to your inner ears.
Ask that whatever needs to happen might happen. Open yourself to being there in honesty and listening. Does someone in this scene have a message for you? Do they have a need? What needs to happen?
Let it happen. Be compassionate with yourself if you lose the thread…pick it up again. You are forgiven! Let the story unfold. Receive the story as it occurs in your sacred imagination. Interact with it. Be present as though this were real and you had nothing to hide. When it feels like your time in this scene and your lesson or message here has been revealed, ask if this is a good time to say good-bye. Thank all who have come to you in this holy scene. Say good bye in your own way. Perhaps you will give or receive a gift here. Let your attention gradually return to the physical world. Welcome back!....write your experience down so it stays fresh. Chapter eight of Imagery In You will give you many ideas and ways of working with the journey you have had in your inner world. Receive it as a blessing.
Happiness in the Holiday season and New Year to all of you! Namaste’

Hello, Jenny!
I noticed your book and website on the Kripalu Yoga Bulletin. Do you remember when we were together at Kripalu for Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy? Lots of water under the bridge since then, eh?! Your site is wonderful and I'm so happy you are doing this fabulous work sharing your gifts and talents! Check out www.YogaSanctuary.com. I opened in September of 1998 and added Thai Yoga Massage about 6 years ago. Write if Spirit moves you!

Jenny, Thank you so much for writing this book! I have had some beautiful "journeys" while reading it, and also as suggested here on your web site (I saw myself at the manger, on the 12th day of Christmas, and met with a young shepherdess there...and we shared some secrets and some brandy and took part in the magic of that night) I feel like something really happened, as you say, an inner knowledge coming to the surface through this story that unveiled itself in my imagination. Thank you. I love this book. It is opening a whole new place in me. Sincerely, Samantha, Peoria, Illinois

Yes Delle, and thanks for writing~ You are dreaming about owls...Use the pattern of the recipe to invite a messenger from the owls to come to you, Greet it, thank it, and find out if the owl has a message for you. What does it need? What needs to happen? Ask the owls your questions about why they are coming to you. Respond with honesty...Also, you may be responding with knowledge you are unaware of...Learn about owls, their habits, their history. Learn in anyway you can (real life, TV shows, books, stories) Perhaps some aspect of their life and habits will resonate deeply with you. Ted Andrews' books are a wonderful resource here (Animal-Wise, Animals Speak).

Jenny, I have been dreaming about owls. Can you tell me what this might be about? Can I use imagery with a night-time type dream?

Jenny Garrison responding to Janice:

What a beautiful and amazing dream, Janice.
I do have some thoughts, and will share them with you, but I agree with the sage advice to apply the recipe!
Address the dream figure. She will tell you about herself. Greet her. Thank her for coming. Ask her if she has a message for you. Ask her what she needs, what needs to happen. and ask about being pleasured by men, see what she has to say about this. Be very honest, as honest as you can be.
My thoughts are these: Perhaps she is a part of you, very sensitive and beautiful, and chooses to leave in the "courser" aspects of life. This may be tied with the ability to receive pleasure from another. Perhaps she prepares the way of learning to receive pleasure.
I also wonder if she could be an ally. There seems a great energy of respect, beauty and grace about her. I think of other realms of vibration (such as angels or fairies) as I read your description of her.
This is a powerful dream and seems to point to healing and self discovery. It seems she wants you to know her. Use the recipe. Talk with her in sacred imagination. Call her to mind during the day,and be alert for anything or place that reminds you of her, her energy. This will help with integration. ...and blessings as you work with her.

I was wondering if you all could help me with a
dream figure that I only caught a glimpse of. I believe she was one
of my wounded selves that I haven't been able to get in touch with.
I can't remember much about the dream except that there was a meeting
of 3-4 women all chattering about nothing in particular. Then SHE
came into the room. Everyone turned and said "Who is she?" and was
astounded at her beauty poise, elegance, and sophistication. She
seemed to glide out of the room and out into thin air. She was there
only a few moments and left the room after she notice it was not for
her. She couldn't handle the chaotic and crudeness of the atmosphere.
Yet, I don't believe she was "Uppity" but knew she shouldn't be
there. I wondered if she was afraid, or just didn't like being
around the uneducated women.
I was still half asleep when I heard myself say. "Ahha, she's the one
that leaves when men try to pleasure her too."
This is a dream image that I asked a online group about and they recommended your site and practicing "The Recipe". I will surely do this.
Do you have any other thoughts about this dream image?
Warm regards,
Janice

Here is my imagery: I had pain in my right knee...not bad. But because I was reading the bit about healing energy I decided to try it. I saw an image of something very green, and as I looked more closely, it had bumps in it, and was wet with a shininess and I realized it was a sheet of seaweed...a type that I don't think I have ever seen. I wrapped it around my knee.
The pain went away. I did this in my imagination several more times, this seaweed wrap. Maybe the pain would have left without this? Maybe not? This was helpful and interesting and I will be buying the book!
